Mentees: Youth from all YMC mentoring programs

Overview: YMC has partnered with two separate organizations while also creating a trip on their own in order to offer snowboarding to as many youth as possible.

The youth leave with a sense of accomplishment for mastering a new skill. They make new friends and find the satisfaction in encouraging others and in the encouragement of others. They take what they learn and apply it to the next challenge that comes their way. They are more able to look a daunting task in the face, learn the skills to help them along the way, and finally reach their goal.

"Well, my experience in snowboarding was really great. I did not know I was going to do so well. I totally loved it and I would be honored to come back soon and have more time. I loved it and will be so happy and honored if guys could help us come back for more time. It was great. I learned about snowboarding, about how to stop even though I didn’t do that great. I had little bumps and stuff but it was great. I learned about myself that I can do anything. Ever since I did that drumming in front of everybody I feel that I can do anything in this world."

"This trip has been an experience I will never forget. I liked the way we did everything together as a family. It seemed like I had a second family, though they were just friends and people who are now friends which I just met. I recommend that they do this trip again. It was so fun and to some, overcoming fears. It helps you get things out you don’t talk about and feelings you would never share. If I had the chance to come again I would jump at the opportunity."
