Work Site Mentoring: SCA Consulting

Mentors: SCA Consulting

Mentees: Jefferson High School and Trade Tech High School

Overview:High School Students were bussed to SCA offices in the Library Tower (Downtown LA's most prestigious office space) once a month to spend two hours with SCA employee volunteers as their mentors. These sessions were a combination of one-on-one meetings between mentee and mentor, group projects, and Life Skills Workshops conducted by YMC staff.

This program had a specific business theme. Students learned about the stock market, business management basics, goal setting, etc. in fun and interactive sessions with the mentors. Mentees participated in an ongoing contest related to managing stocks, learning business concepts, attendance and teamwork.

In addition to the worksite sessions, special group outings (bowling, ball games, plays, etc.) were organized by YMC staff. Finally, mentors continue to spend quality time with their mentees in the community.
