Mentors: Shout! Factory
Mentees: A Place Called Home Youth Center in South Central (which includes kids from Jefferson High School, Trade Tech High School, Manual Arts High School, and Crenshaw High School among others)
Overview: Mentees are bussed to the Shout! Factory once a month where they spend two and a half hours with employee volunteers as their mentors. These sessions are a combination of Life Skills Workshops conducted and designed by YMC staff, group projects, one-on-one meetings between mentee and mentor and guest speakers. In addition to the worksite sessions; group outings (bowling, ball games, plays, etc.) are organized by YMC staff for weekends. Finally, mentors spend quality time with their mentees in the community on their own. They take them to museums, invite them to family functions, etc.
